FAQ's

What is Remote backup?

Remote backup, also known as online backup, is a method of offsite data storage in which files, folders, or the entire contents of a hard drive are regularly backed up on a remote server or computer with a network connection. This does away with the need for backing data up to tapes and having to remember to take them off site.

Why Remote backup if we already have a tape backup system?

Remote backups offer many advantages over tape backups. Tapes are slow to access and they are prone to corruption. There is also the need for a human to physically remember to change the tapes and take them to an offsite location in the event of a disaster. Offsite backups do away with the human element so your data is backed up automatically to an offsite location and because the data is held on disk drives, the process of backing up and restoring data is much faster.
